Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Isaiah chapter forty-five makes it entirely clear that there is One who is in absolute authority and control over this earth. That control extends to all things: military, political, economic and even social. Most certainly there are those who question His operations in this but our chapter here in Isaiah makes it clear that He, that is God, is in control. As we read the Scriptures we find that He is involved in a very long-term project that will end with a horrendous judgment of the earth.
The passage that I have quoted reveals to us the real character of our day and the purpose of God and that is the salvation of men. Notice with me this text from Peter:
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
This is His offer; “Look unto me, and be ye saved…” You can grouse about how things are and you can complain about fairness and pursue your own pleasures or you can be saved by bowing to this God and requesting His mercy. The choice is yours.
