Romans 15:4 (KJV)
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
The believer’s hope is a vital and fascinating subject.
This past week we had a missionary in our pulpit who spoke of the believer’s hope from the sixteenth Psalm. In the text previously cited, we find that Paul is speaking about the testimonies of God from the Old Testament Scriptures. It is as we learn about the true nature of God and His ways that our hope is instructed and built.
The same God who was forever good to His people and provided for them and cared for them throughout the years is the same as the God of the New Testament. As we come into a covenant relationship with Him through the work of His Son we become the recipients of His gracious love and attention. We can say then with the Psalmist that God is our heritage. And what a grand and glorious heritage that is.
I trust that you are growing in your understanding of God and that you have come into a saving relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
