Spring Inventory

Spring for Charlotte and me is always a time of inventory. Just as soon as the snow is gone and even earlier than that we begin to assess our annual plants, our bushes, our trees and even the grass to see they have made it through the winter. Winter has way of being hard on these items and the critters that inhabit our yard do their damage also. We can be seen carefully watching for signs of life and growth. How pleasant it is to see new buds appearing on those young and newly planted trees and the bushes coming back to visible signs of life. The warm sun and spring rains stimulate the lawn and all these signs of life are so encouraging and satisfying. It makes me wonder if our Lord doesn’t also find it refreshing and encouraging to see signs of vitality and Spiritual life within His people. After the long winters of trial the wonderful signs of true faith appear as the fruits of Spirit begin to form on His chosen people. These are the marks and signs of true conversion and life within those who are truly His. It reminds me of the verse in the book of Second Corinthians:

2 Corinthians 13:5

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Are there undeniable signs of true Christianity in you life? They have to be there if there is truly life within!
