Responsibility

“Responsibility” is a word that I just can’t get away from these days. We are living in a world where many are just failing to accept any responsibility. In a short study of Psalm 107, you will find that God uses the consequences of failing to be responsible to correct the error of irresponsibility. However, it seems to me that our lawmakers have made it their goal to rescue irresponsible people from the consequences of their laziness and failure to manage their lives. Certainly there are exceptions but I find that there are altogether too many able-bodied people that are petitioning our leaders to do for them what they ought to do for themselves.

In a nation such as ours with opportunities that go begging it appears to me that we ought to find some way to allow those who just use the system to experience the consequences of their choices. While this may seem a bit harsh or even mean, you will find again from Psalm 107 that it is the solution that God has determined.

God’s blessing and provision in the Scriptures are always given to us in the context of man accepting his responsibilities. It is a pleasant, productive and satisfying way of life.
