Consideration or Negotiation

I find it interesting to see how our judicial system has begun to function. Imagine a criminal negotiating with a judge! In this whole process, could it not be suggested that the judge has in measure surrendered both his position and his responsibility?

If I understand this issue correctly it is a process that we enter into in an attempt to ease the load on the court and move more easily through the evidence finding and conviction phase of the trial. However, in the end, do we not in some measure make a mockery of truth and justice? It has left us with a culture that believes that you are not guilty unless you are caught and that your crime can be proven.

In this light it is important to recognize that the real Judge of all men is coming, His knowledge of us is entirely comprehensive and there will be no negotiations held in His court.

It is for this reason that His counsel to us is “consideration” not negotiation. As you begin this new year I urge you to consider your life, your values and you habits in the light of your coming Judge.

Isaiah 1:18

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
