Burdens

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Last Sunday in our time together we discussed the idea of harmony among the family of God. We were in the text of Philippians chapter two. In that section we find these words:

Philippians 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

I would like to comment on this from the perspective of burdens. As I look out over the people of God, it seems I see none that do not carry burdens. Perhaps that is why Christ said, “if any man would come after Me, let him take up his cross…” It is also apparent to me that God alone chooses these burdens.

Lamentations 3:28 Let him sit alone and be silent Since He has laid it on him.

It seems to me that one of the most harmonious things we can to is to recognize the burdens that our brothers and sisters in Christ carry and enter into sympathy with them and share the load. We will grow greatly in our esteem and appreciation of our brothers and sisters when we share their burdens and walk with them in empathy. That is one definition of harmony.
