Waiting on God

There is a principle that runs through the entire scope of God’s word that calls upon God’s children to wait upon Him. This principle is certainly connected with the idea of contentment and satisfaction. There is a very real and caustic temptation for us as the children of God when we begin to look to this world and its experiences as a source of contentment and satisfaction. While we as the people of God need to be busy about our duties, caring for the matters of life as responsible citizens, when we cross over the line of finding our satisfaction in these things we have made a dangerous blunder.

Looking for satisfaction in things like our careers or even hobbies and pastimes is evidence that we have not placed our foremost attention on the things of God. The ache and passion of our hearts ought to be those things that interest God. It is clearly stated for us, “seek ye first the kingdom of God…” and so it is that these interests ought to be the source of our contentment and satisfaction. It would benefit us all to identify what the passions of our life are and focus them upon the interests of God. It will make for a far better future and a well-balanced Christian life.

Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
