Soteriology

It is good for us to have such a large and sophisticated word to deal with the doctrine of salvation and the conversion of a soul. The more that I study this doctrine the greater my fascination with it. It would seem to me that likely one of the greatest errors of our day is the simplification of this great doctrine. It is to this doctrine that I believe that Solomon is alluding to in the following text:

Ecclesiastes 11:5 (KJV)

As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

Solomon makes this observation in one of the most pungent and pointed texts in Scripture that urges our responsibility to sow. In Matthew Chapter 13, the Savior urges us to sow the Word and to be diligent in doing it. It is in the process of this activity that souls are eternally saved. It is a wonderful marvel. God has chosen by the “foolishness of preaching to save them that believe”.

It is our personal link with the activity of God in bringing souls to Himself. We don’t need to understand it and all of the associated dynamics of it. We need just to obey, be faithful and diligent in sowing the Word.

May God grant us faith and diligence in sowing.
