Peace

Enjoying peace in our homes or in our churches is a personal responsibility. It is rather simply achieved by walking in the Spirit. James tells us clearly that the cause of disruption is walking in the flesh. That is the meaning of James 4:1.

James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

By contrast Paul states in Romans chapter eight:

Romans 8:5-6 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

The very simple conclusion is that if we will walk in the Spirit we will enjoy life and peace in our relationships and if not there will be huge and often ugly conflicts. But this is the responsibility of everyone in the family or in the church fellowship. It only takes one to step out of the Spirit and introduce turmoil to the group. It is then the responsibility of those who are walking in the Spirit to correctly identify the situation and do their best to bring a true solution by confronting the carnality with honor and respect and urge repentance.

I didn’t say it was easy, I only said it was simple.
