Woke up sick yesterday! Thought I could just “tough it out” however, things just got worse as I pursued my normal routine. So, I just built a nest for myself on the couch and finished reading Paul Schlener’s newest book, “When Sea Billows Roll”. I wept as I read of his conversion to Christ and the subsequent conversion of his girl-friend. This is a must read story.
I have a deepening interest in the wonderful mystery of conversion. I don’t think that miracle is really the word for it so much as it is a demonstration more of great mercy and grace. Then this morning I read in Mark four, a couple of the parables regarding sowing. In the story of Paul Schlener and his wife-to-be Jessie, you will see how the Word sown bore fruit, though it often appeared quite hopeless. I am reminded again of the words of Jonah the prophet, “salvation is of the Lord”. It all serves to encourage me and urge me on to the area of my responsibility and that is to sow the Word.
Psalm 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
