Mephibosheth

Published on 10/10/16

Yesterday we had the privilege of having Bill Jenkin in our pulpit both morning and evening. He used the story of Mephibosheth to illustrate to us the place of the New Testament believer before God. The story is found in 2 Samuel, chapter nine.

This man, Mephibosheth, was invited by the king (King David it was) to join his family. What a blessing it was, for Mephibosheth was a part of King Saul’s family who had treated David with such disdain and contempt. And it was because of Jonathan’s relationship to David that this kindness was extended. We were reminded that it is because of all that Christ is, that the heavenly Father has opened His house and benefits to us who come to Him through His Son the Christ.

Bill spent time in the evening service exploring those benefits we have as a result of Jesus Christ. To imagine that we are seated at the King’s table is a wonderful trip of the imagination that is both true and dependable:

Ephesians 2:6
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Our preacher led us to contemplate whom they are that we are seated with and what privileges and benefits we have at the Father’s table. Now, there is some wonderful meditation material!

Those two messages will be available on our web site.
