There is a lot of ink and talking these days about international issues and especially regarding the Mid-East. And indeed we would be fools to just bury our heads and look the other way while these aggressive and dangerous events are taking place. However as the people of God we need to remind ourselves that “…God is yet in the heavens…”
Psalm 2:1-4 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Ultimately the battle is against God and His people. Whether it be Israel or His redeemed that go by the moniker of the Church. In reality it is God that is in the sights of this world of fallen men. They want nothing to do with His just and righteous ways. It is we, the people of God, that represent those “ways” and our Savior said, “If they hated me they will hate you also.” Sometimes we just need to stand back a bit further and acknowledge that whether it be international fits and struggles or local battles against all that is holy and just God will bring them all to a just and fitting end. Read the end of Psalm 2: and relax under the mighty hand of God. We need to remember that the “…battle is the Lord’s.” All is well.
