Gospel Work

One of my great personal interests throughout my time in the Lord’s work has been the matter of “gospel work”. I have had extensive training in my college years regarding both personal and church evangelistic work. Along with that there has always been much emphasis in our churches regarding evangelistic work. This emphasis seems to be dominated by those who have an aggressive, winsome personality. They are lovely people but their teaching is far more determined and directed by their personality than by what we find in the Scriptures.

When we, who are of far different personal traits, attempt to follow their instruction we find ourselves very uncomfortable and I believe make others who we are attempting to reach uncomfortable also. I say all of this to bring to your attention that what is often and commonly taught in the area of evangelism, regarding to how it is to be done, is just not found in the Scriptures.

In the coming weeks, here at Bethel Baptist Church, we are going to be studying the doctrine of Gospel work as it is defined in the book of Second Corinthians. I believe it is something that put God’s people at rest in this wonderful and amazing work of evangelism.
