In my recent reading through the Psalms and also the books of the Kings, I have been challenged to think a bit more about God’s activity in the lives of man. I am wondering if we fail to consider the comprehensive activity of God in our lives. One verse that would excite such a consideration is Romans 8:28:
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
The phrase, “…all things…” would invite us to suppose a very comprehensive involvement of God in the lives of His people. That being the case and knowing the nature of God, there is great cause for us to live in a general state of optimism. I think that it would come to something of this nature: God will give us enough trouble to keep us on our knees and enough blessings to maintain our optimism.
Psalm 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
