This event that just occurred in Florida helps us to understand more clearly one of the great distinctions between the religion of Islam and the Christian religion.
It is clear that the perversion of sex from the Bible norms and roles is to be marked and even condemned, however, the way Islam addresses this and the way Christianity addresses it are very different.
As believers in Christ and the Scriptures, we grieve over these departures from what is moral and wholesome, and our Bible-given response is to have compassion for the sinner and urge him to accept and receive the truth of Scripture and the gospel. In the reception of that, we urge repentance and faith in Christ. We are not called to some military form of action nor are we called to hate.
From what I understand of the book of Islam, they are called to hate and to kill those who are in their terms, “infidels”. Certainly there are those who have accepted a moderate form of Islam, but they ought to confess that their book does teach hate and murder.
Those who attempt to color Christianity with hate, vengeance and terrorist activity are either greatly misinformed or just liars. There are those who will attempt to paint Christianity with some form of culpability for this shooting this weekend, but they are not only wrong, I believe they have an agenda of hatred themselves for the Christian faith.
