Faithfulness

Yesterday, Missionary Rick McLain was with us and reminded us of God's comprehensive and enduring faithfulness. What a wonderful theme that is!

1 Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

The Old Testament testimonies of God's faithfulness are so many and what a blessing it is to set our attention upon those testimonies and to reflect on this wonderful characteristic of God. These testimonies meet us in the times of our trials, burdens and even temptations. They reassure us of this blessed promise in the book of Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Brother McLain spoke yesterday of many of the difficulties and trials he and Gayle faced in 45 years of ministry in Brazil and how God safely and wonderfully delivered them out of them all. It was delightful to ponder over the many and varied ways God worked that were often far different from anything they would have normally anticipated.

It is important also to understand that God doesn't just take care of His foreign missionaries, but His attention is equally upon all of His people. Last evening Rick reminded us that if God so purposefully puts His attention upon us, we ought also to put our attention upon Him. Anxiety comes when we focus our attention upon ourselves, peace comes when we focus our attention upon Him.
