Equipped

We had a guest preacher in yesterday and he was a blessing. In the morning service he opened to us a text from the book of Colossians. In this limited short article I don’t have space to fully expose what he gave us from this text but let me just rehearse a portion to you.

Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Just this one thought I will share with you what flows out of these words, “thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance…” God, in saving us has placed us in a new vocation and purpose as His children and His servants. Our ability to fulfill this new role is an ability that He gives us through the resource of His Spirit and His Word. The idea in the words, “has made us meet..” is that He has equipped us to fulfill His purposes. I so often struggle with my perceived shortage of ability. It occurs to me that, that is a matter of ignorance and faithlessness. We are equipped to fulfill the tasks that He has set before us and those tasks are fulfilled whether we see and understand it or not. These are chores that He fulfills through us. Add to this these verses of Scripture:

Psalm 147:10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

We just need to renew our confidence in God and trust fully in Him.
