Counterfeit Christianity

The parable Christ taught called the parable of the tares is all about a counterfeit religion. In the parable Christ is warning His followers that Satan’s most subtle and likely most effective countermeasure against Christianity is the sowing of a false, though nearly identical religious practice.

It is no new practice on the part of the enemy. You remember well the Pharisees. These very people whom Christ acknowledged to be sitting in the “seat of Moses”, were counterfeits. Christ said of them that they were of their father the Devil. He said that they would compass both land and sea to make a proselyte and when he was made he was then twice the child of hell as they.

These are very frightening realities. It tells us that there are eager purveyors of a “Christianity like” religion that is in truth false and the end of their work is damnation. It would seem to me that we ought to exert a great amount of care in assessing the veracity of any group. Christ said that by their fruits they would be known.

Do you understand that the only dependable way to assess true Christianity is by holiness? That is the true banner of Christianity.
