Christians and Politics

This last election year has had a good effect on believers. With all of the wrangling and fighting that was going on it seems that many believers found their only refuge in prayer. Our challenge at this time is to continue in prayer. I was so pleased when one of the men at the close of the inaugural speech (I believe it was Franklin Graham) chose to use for his prayer 1 Timothy 2:1-6. I will copy it here for your reading:

1 Timothy 2:1-6
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

We will serve our county best as we pray for our country. It is obvious that our land is deeply divided, or so it looks. So let us pray, for any effort is vain apart from God.

Psalm 127:1
A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

I encourage you to add America to your prayer list.
