Carnality

1 Corinthians 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Carnality is expected to be an unusual and even foreign condition for the Christian. The word “carnal” expresses the idea of living from a viewpoint and perspective of an unsaved man. It is the matter of having wicked and crimnal ambitions or just vain and profane ambitions or expectations.

As I understand the Scriptures, regeneration has delivered to man the option of living from a fountain of spiritual truth or remaining in the dead and destructive ideas of the past. There is a choice to be made. Paul expresses this in Romans and Galatians:

Romans 8:5-8 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

This instruction from the Holy Spirit and the hand of Paul delivers to us the responsibility to examine our hearts and determine the motivating forces that are working there. This adds understanding and weight to this instruction from the book of Proverbs:

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

So!!!!!!!!! What is going on in your heart these days?
