On Sundays we have been working our way through the last formal address of our Savior to His disciples. This text is just loaded with fascinating and beneficial instruction. I find it nearly incredible that the Lord has left His interests in the hands of man. Nevertheless that is what He has done. We can get so wrapped up in our national issues and world news not realizing that there is something far more powerful and important going on; and that is God’s overall governance of the world. And then we must realize that that governing power and influence has been “sublet” to His children (stewards) on this earth. Frankly, Trump and Putin are little more than pawns on this board. The real “movers and shakers” are His children.
Matthew 5:13-16
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
The things that are happening for the benefit and blessing of this world are coming to it through the persons of His children. And the really great wonder of that is that the real power of that is His presence in His children:
Colossians 1:27
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
God has taken up and new temple and that temple is His children;
John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
We need to learn to enjoy and beneficially live Christ in this world.
