As I understand Deism, it is the belief that God has set things in motion and has left them to evolve apart from any interaction or participation with them by things we would understand, things material, societal and even spiritual. True Christianity takes a far different view. As believers in the Bible we see God as providentially active in the material, social and spiritual events of our world.
In Christ’s introduction to the parables in Matthew chapter thirteen, He addresses this issue as a response to the disciple’s question regarding why He chose to teach the multitudes in parables. A simple assumption in this matter is that He chose parables to be clear and illustrative regarding the truth of the kingdom.
His response however was far different. He explained to the disciples that He chose to use parables so that He could hide the truth from those who were unworthy of it.
Matthew 13:11-12 (KJV)
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
In a short article such as this I will have to “cut to the chase” to give an explanation of this matter. The simple truth is that when truth is rejected the ultimate consequence of that is blindness and encroaching ignorance.
Two portions of Scripture that you should compare with this to increase your understanding are, Romans 1:18-22 and Matthew 23:37-39. The point is that there are huge consequences that attach themselves to unbelief.
