Glory

Last evening we reviewed the idea of glory. Our text was John 13:

John 13:31-32
Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

There are three aspects of glory in consideration here. The first is in regard to the glory of co-operating with God as a faithful and obedient servant. Jesus did this as He proceeded to the cross to there accomplish the will of the Father in the redemption of man. It is here that we see the glory of accepting the full cost of whatever task that God has laid before us. This is the cost of sacrificial service. It is the meaning of verses like the following:

Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

The second aspect of glory is the glory that God receives from the faithful and costly sacrifices made by His people. This makes sense when you give some thought to it. The value and worth we have for God is seen in the costs we bare in following Him. Relate the following verse to this:

John 21:19
This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

The third aspect of glory is the glory that God, in the end, rewards His people with. Consider the following two verses with this regard:

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Romans 8:18
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

We have a wonderful future as the children of God!
