I remember that several years ago a foreign company was making shoes and insinuating that they were original products of an American company by including some markings that were copy righted to that American company. They were counterfeits and as I remember of inferior quality.
The apostle Paul warns us that the same thing would be done in the arena of religion. He said that many false teachers would arise and that they would lead many astray.
When you think of that it really is incredible. To imagine that there would be forms of “Christianity” hawked and fostered that are not true at all and therefore rather than lead to the salvation of souls to the damnation of souls is an unimaginable situation. However the Scriptures plainly teach us that such situations exist. With shoes it really is no big deal, but with the eternal souls of men at stake the consequences are inestimable.
And then we are led to understand that we are responsible to discern the difference between what is false and what is true. Unless your form of Christianity matches the template of the New Testament it is likely false. That gives us great cause to be careful students of the Bible.
