I am often troubled by the growing cancer of discontent that I see, even among the people of God.

This discontent of necessity argues for the erosion of that blessed doctrine that characterized our forefathers; that being providence. The rise of modernity has led us to some deadly false assumptions. We have become a people that assume we can shape our own lives and experiences.

The foolish preposterousness of this is seen in how our political leaders are using turns and twists in the regular flow of natural events such as weather to achieve their own political agendas, as though that "worm man" could of himself shape something so vast as the heavens. The "Katrina" event was such a thing as these leaders used this opportunity to impugn our government for not being prepared for every holocaust that nature can present. To be sure the hearts of man have become overcome of pride that is represented in rancorous contempt for others.

It was in the event of such things that God humbled old Nebuchadnezzar.

Daniel 4:34-35

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? (KJV)

For those of us who claim to know, understand and appreciate the Lord it is time to settle back in the arms of providence and live here in respect for others and content with the affairs of life as God brings them to us.

Hebrews 13:5

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)
