Customarily as we approach the New Year, it becomes a time of reflection couple with the anticipation of another year. We reflect on the events and achievements of the past and also upon the failures. It is a good time to look forward and set ourselves in a good mind-set for making the coming year pleasant and productive. From this activity come the often spoken of, resolutions. I was reading the last chapter of the book of Revelation this morning and came upon the following verse:
Revelation 22:7
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
As I thought about the word, “keepeth”, it seemed to me that the idea was to keep the content of this book in our minds as it would set within us a proper perspective for our lives here on earth at this time. The former chapter had described our eternal home and our reward and that is certainly a mind-expanding thought. The opulence of the world that is in our future defies the meager ability of our imaginations even though stimulated by such descriptive prophecy. It is obvious that our Lord for the purpose of capturing our imaginations and our anticipation of this coming world and reward has given these descriptions to us.
Let me encourage you in the coming year to not allow the light afflictions of this day to obscure your clear vision of the blessings God holds in reserve for His children.
