Dr. Manfred Kober
Dr. Manfred Kober is a native of Germany. Born of Christian parents who perished as a result of World War II, he grew up in the war-torn province of Saxony, where he experienced Communist oppression firsthand. In 1952 he miraculously escaped to western Germany, leaving behind his relatives, including a brother and sister. Due to his background, Dr. Kober has a special love for America and a unique perspective on its place in history.
Dr Kober attended Technical High School in Springfield, Massachusetts, graduating in 1957. He studied at Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, New York, the University of Erlangen in western Germany and subsequently received his Th.M and Th.D. degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Kober taught from 1969 until 1999 at the Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa, chairing the Department of Theology. Presently he is the research assistant for Russ Doughten Films and Mustard Seed International, a worldwide evangelism through Christian films and discipleship training.
Dr. Kober has contributed to a number of publications. He travels widely in a Bible conference ministry, speaking on such topics as prophecy, the Bible and archeology, the Christian and his country, contemporary ethical issues and important issues facing fundamentalists.
Every year since 1970 he hosts a Holy Land tour over New Year's and enjoys introducing folks to the Land of our Lord. He recently returned from his 38th hosted tour. Periodically he also hosts a Reformation Country Tour to Europe, visiting the homes of the Pilgrim Fathers and tracing the rise of the Reformation on the Continent. Occasionally he leads a New England Heritage Tour for folks from the Midwest who would like to explore their spiritual roots in New England.
Each summer he returns to Germany to assist fundamental Baptist missionaries in church planting and travels to Eastern Europe in a literature distribution and teaching ministry, "The Evangel to Eastern Europe." Even while the Communists wer in power, he made 50 such mission trips behind the Iron Curtain.
Dr. Kober resides in Bondurant, Iowa. He and his wife Sharon have two adult children, Christa and Eric. Christa is married to Scott Pearson and teaches in the music department at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She just gave birth to a son, Samuel.
